Whether you’re ready to f—-ing go or not, Deadpool & Wolverine, aka Deadpool 3, is opening in theaters this weekend, and it’s gearing to dominate the box office for weeks. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman might just be the saviors that Marvel needs to make “Phase 5” a thing audiences actually care about.
Directed by Shawn Levy—with a script written by Levy, Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells—this is the first Disney-producer Deadpool movie, following the Fox-Disney merger in 2019. But don’t worry, it’s still rated R. And now that Deadpool is officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you can expect some fun cameos. But the real team-up is with Jackman’s Wolverine, who reluctantly agrees to join Deadpool to save the universe.
This is the most hype there’s been for a Marvel movie in quite some time, and you don’t want to miss out on the fun. You also want to be prepared before you go to the theater, so here’s where to watch the Deadpool movies on streaming, where to watch the Wolverine movies on streaming, and what you need to watch before you watch Deadpool & Wolverine.

How to watch all the Deadpool movies in order:
We’re not counting the brief appearance Reynolds made as a mouth-sewn-shut version of Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), because it’s best just to ignore that. Otherwise, here’s where to stream the first two Deadpool films.

- Streaming on: Disney+, Max, and available to buy or rent on VOD
- Deadpool 2 (2018)
- Streaming on: Disney+, FX Now (with a cable login, or on Hulu with the FX add-on), and available to buy and or rent on VOD
- Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)

What movies to watch before Deadpool and Wolverine:
You probably should watch the first two Deadpool movies, because Deadpool & Wolverine is also known as Deadpool 3.
However, you definitely do not need to have seen all of the Jackman Wolverine movies to understand Deadpool & Wolverine. In fact, as we’ve learned from the trailer, the Wolverine that Jackman plays in Deadpool & Wolverine is an “alternate universe” version of Wolverine, aka a Wolverine from a different Earth in the multiverse. That means he doesn’t necessarily have the same memories or experience as the Wolverine we’ve seen in the other nine films. So, technically, you don’t need to have seen any of the Wolverine movies to understand Deadpool & Wolverine.
That said, it will likely still enhance your viewing experience to have some understanding of Jackman’s Wolverine. Decider’s Marvel expert Brett White suggests watching at least the first X-Men movie, Deadpool 2, a few key episodes of the Loki series, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, in order to get the best viewing experience possible for Deadpool & Wolverine. LFG!
