Chicago P.D. alum Jesse Lee Soffer is trading in the Chicago Police Department for the FBI’s International Fly Team, and fans have just been granted some new intel on his upcoming FBI: International character.
TVLine reports that Soffer will be taking on the role of the “charming and rakish” Supervisory Special Agent Wesley “Wes” Mitchell. “Newly embedded to the Fly Team,” Wes is an agent “whose impeccable instincts and unconventional tactics fuel his drive to stop at nothing to achieve justice.”
Sources confirmed TVLine’s reporting to DECIDER.
When the news broke that Soffer would be pursuing a role on the FBI franchise, he took to Instagram, teasing that “the cat’s out of the bag.”
“Very excited to join the @FBICBS team! Big thanks to @CBSTV, Matt Olmstead, and Wolf Entertainment,” he continued. “Let’s goooooo!”
As noted by TVLine, Soffer is taking over for Luke Kleintank, whose last appearance on the series as Supervisory Special Agent Scott Forrester took place in May.
It was also previously specified that Soffer would not be coming back as Det. Jay Halstead, the role he portrayed on the One Chicago beloved series, despite both shows existing in Dick Wolf‘s TV universe.

While Soffer announced his exit from Chicago P.D. in 2022, he most recently returned to direct an episode that aired as part of Season 11 in May. In February 2023, he reflected on his departure in an interview with Variety, telling the outlet that although he is “extremely grateful” for the experience, he “was ready for more.”
Season 4 of FBI International hits CBS on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 9/8 c. Season 3 of the series is streaming on Paramount+.
