Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan‘s steamy chemistry is front and center in the former’s new “Please Please Please” music video, the latest release from her upcoming album Short N’ Sweet — and fans are eating up their partner in crime dynamic.
The new video — which has already garnered more than 4 million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours — starts with Carpenter being bailed out of jail, where she catches a glimpse of the Saltburn star making his way in and being read his Miranda rights.
Their crime-ridden romance (led by more misdemeanors of Keoghan’s) ensues throughout the rest of the video, with Carpenter ultimately handcuffing Keoghan to a chair, duct taping his mouth, and then planting a kiss on him.
As noted by Entertainment Weekly, Carpenter explained to Vogue that her video for her smash hit “Espresso” concluded with her “getting arrested.”
“…so naturally I thought it would be satisfying to start the ‘Please, please, please’ video in jail,” she shared. “I liked the idea of falling in love with a convict and being shocked and embarrassed every time he commits crimes. I was sooo lucky to get Barry Keoghan in the video cause he is just magic on screen.”
Fans have drawn comparisons between their criminal chemistry and that of Bonnie and Clyde, as well as the Joker and Harley Quinn
“It’s giving Bonnie and Clyde oh Sabrina I love how your mind works,” one fan wrote on X, while another echoed that the two are “so Bonnie and Clyde coded.”
“Sabrina and Barry as Bonnie and Clyde… i’m here for it,” an admirer gushed, while a different fan raved, “Stop this music video concept was so good Barry and Sabrina being a Bonnie and Clyde like are you joking Sabrina you kill it again.”
Short N’ Sweet is out on Aug. 23. Check out Carpenter and Keoghan’s chemistry in the “Please Please Please” music video above.
